I think this is probably the best negative ion generator available. the manufacturer testing says there is negligible ozone production (purports to be almost not detectable & well within safety standards) so it is not harmful. It really cleans th air well in the the room I have it. Previously visible airborne particles that could be seen when direct sunlight streamed into the room have now disappeared. My asthmatic friend who sleeps over, says her breathing is much easier. And feel more refreshed. The stale air odor that used to be there after the house was closed off, has now gone. If you are in the market for a negative ion generator, this is the one to get !!!!

Recommended. I was reluctant to purchase this ionizer due to the price. But after much Internet research, I concluded that most of the less expensive ionizers do put out a sufficient amount of ions and those that do often generate too much ozone. I have two less expensive ionizers that sit in a closet unused because they put out so much ozone that they irritate my eyes and make me cough. The deciding factor for me in purchasing this ionizer was that a modified version of it was used in clinical research at Columbia. I have been satisfied with this ionizer and am considering purchasing another.As you can see from the product picture, this ionizer does not win style points. It has all the bulk and lack of grace of a "build-it-yourself" electronics kit. But it is unobtrusive and its functionality makes up for its lack of style.I wish that Wein would create a smaller model that would be easier to pack while traveling. (Hint! hint! If you are reading this Wein!)

This Wein unit emits pulsed discharges from a wire brush; a unique method of generating negative ions. The emitter is not replaceable, but Wein claims does not wear over time. This is a very powerful industrial strength generator, which does make a slight hissing sound. My ion detector registers a high level of negative ions even some distance away from the emitter. The coverage area is 800 sq ft, so I recommend this unit for work if you are in an open area, or heavily polluted areas, such as your garage. Since it is so powerful, there is potential for increased blackwall effect.I believe this is one of the more powerful Ionizers available on the market today.

Product Description

The HEPAClean Compact Air Purifier offers low maintenance, effective air cleaning with a permanent HEPA-Type filter. The 3-stage filtration system first helps clean the air by using a washable pre-filter to capture large airborne particles. It then passes through the permanent HEPA-Type filter, capturing up to 95% of microscopic particles such as mold, spores, pollen, pet dander, smoke, and dust. Quiet and powerful air purifier with no filters to replace

I have other ionic air cleaners, as well as one that requires a filter. This air purifier is quiet and due to its compact size, can be placed off the floor on a bookcase, dresser top or top shelf which makes it optimal for space-saving and placement. I don't particularly like the noise from air filters and they have a tendency to keep me up.After spending many dollars on replacement filters and new air cleaners when the filter is no longer made or easily available, this is a welcome addition with a permanent cleanable filter. I bought two of these, one for my bedroom and one for the living room. Set on low all of the time, it is great as it just sounds like a little white noise and is not noticable most of the time. The optional ionic on and off switch, night light, as well as the automated light indicating that the filter should be cleaned is a BONUS besides the low price. So far, I am enjoying cleaner air in an old dusty house with 3 cats and 2 dogs...I have bought the Sharper Image ionic breeze for the bathroom and find it hard to clean and hope that when I have to clean this filter. Good value for the money.

Gets the job done - no filters to change!

This is my 2nd air purifier - the other was a comparable model by Holmes. I learned from my first air purifier that you really have to leave it on all the time or the revolving motor will collect dust, not work as well or as quietly. If I don't want it on constantly, I just put a clean towel over the top to prevent any dust/dirt from building up.The noise level is acceptable to me, in an 8x10 room. I usually leave it on LOW, which sounds a bit like a fan on low speed, but MED is good too - it has a nice white noise effect. I only put it on HIGH if there's a bad smell or lots of dust floating around (for whatever reason). HIGH is a bit loud for my taste. This machine tends to rattle a bit as it sits on my bureau, but a small towel underneath it took care of that problem. Also, give it time to warm up when you put it on. It starts off slowly, but works at full speed within a few minutes.I have allergies and noticed a difference immediately when I got this model. My symptoms have improved greatly, even with 3 cats in the house. I would recommend it to anyone who has a small space, doesn't want to buy new filters and is perhaps on a budget. Good machine at a decent price.

quiet little air purifier

I brought this one recently to replace the sharper image's ionizer purifier, since I want something to shut off the ionizer -- the air has some smell from those ions.This unit has three speeds. Another switch to turn on or off the ionizer.The lowest speed can push enough air comparable to Sharper Image's high speed, without much noise. If no one talks in the room, you can still notice the sound. But if anyone talks or the TV is on, then you would not noticed the sound, even in a 8x10 room. Middle and high speed push 20-50 times more air than a Sharper Images ionizer purifiers. I wish it has a feature to push a button to boost the air flow to high speed for 15 minutes, then fall back to slowest speed...For the price of a tank of gasoline, and free shipping from Amazon, buying this is no brainer....

Extremely quiet

I cannot believe how quiet this thing is. It CAN get loud if it cranks itself up, or you do it manually, but at its normal operating volume (low for us), it is whisper quiet. You wont hear it unless you try to.

Product Description

For owners of the Artograph 1530 Spray Booth. Artograph 1530 Filter Pak contains 4 each mid-filter and poly carb filter pads. The mid-filter is a non-woven air-laid polyester substrate with a green PVC binder on the exit side. The poly-carb filter is a carbon-impregnated polyester offering high odor and further particle-trapping efficiency. Every three months with regular use, replace both filters at the same time or when replacing the Pre-Filter Roll.

I used these for about 8 months. It does not change the taste of the cigarette. It was fascinating to see the tar it traps. I got 5-6 cigs to one and gradually weaned myself off the smokes.
