My husband has really bad alergies and we have 3 cats and 1 inside dog and ever since I got this he has not had any problems. Plus I love it as decoration!

Smell Me Good Bamboo

I love this product! I try to be eco-friendly. So when I found this product I was eager to try something new. I put some in a small vase and placed in my living room. Since one stalk came broken, I put the broken pieces in a small cup and placed it next to the liter box. What a difference! It only took about a hr to notice a remarkable difference in the smell. I will probable not only buy myself more but also buy some as Christmas gifts this year.

Aprilaire / Space-Gard #213 High Efficiency Filtering Media (8-Pack) Fits the following Aprilaire Air Cleaners: Model 2200 after upgrading with #1213 Media Upgrade Kit Model 2120 after upgrading with #1213 Media Upgrade Kit Model 1210 Model 2210 Model 3210 (new premium model with electronic control) Model 4200 (old premium model with electronic control) Newly designed media features: Traps and removes 75% of virus-sized particles (.3 to 1 micron) and over 90% of dust-sized particles (3.0 to 10.0 microns). Traps and permanently removes over 90% of pollen, mold and spore sized particles (3.0 to 10.0 microns). Collapsible media with self spacing pleats installs in seconds. Media replacement is recommended after one to two years depending on air flow. SelfSeal dramatically reduces air bypass, improving filter performance. Clean Air

Outstanding product. Fits the Aprilaire filter of my A/C unit perfectly. I converted my Aprilaire furnace filter system from the 201 to the 213. The new system is much easier to change filters and it's easy to pull out the old filter and slide in the new filter. These filters are excellent and arrived quickly and were in excellent condition.

Ok But NOT a Bryant Filter

This filter fits the Bryant filter mount fine (with the included self-adhesive foam strip), but despite the misleading words in the Amazon ad, it is an aftermarket filter, not a Bryant (and also not a Carrier) filter. The filter seems to work okay, but it is not the same quality as the OEM Bryant filer. As long as you understand this, it's an okay buy.

Good, basic, no frills, true HEPA filtration

I purchased this item because I had been looking for a reasonably priced true HEPA room air filter with no ionizer. I have heard conflciting information on the safety of ionizers which produce ozone in the home so I did not want that feature, though it is popular right now. I have pet birds which are high dander and wanted to filter the air in the room the birds are in, both for my health and the birds' health.I have been really happy with this product. The box says it is for a 16' x 16' room. I am using it in a 12' x 16' room and it seems to do the job. It is compact and is designed to sit on its end or on its side, whichever you prefer. It is beige and unobtrusive. The item is ready to go right out of the box - you just have to install the carbon filters (HEPA filters are pre-installed at the factory). Installing the filters is a snap. The air filter is simple to use. There is power button to turn it on and off and it has four operating speeds, 1 through 4. You can also set a timer function that allows you to set the filter to run for 1-16 hours and then automatically shut off. Impressively, the unit comes with a FIVE YEAR manuafacturer's warranty, something you don't see very often.I researched HEPA air filters extensively before this purchase. Some HEPA filters cost $50-70 each to replace! This unit's filters are readily available in Wal Mart and Target. Amazon sells a two pack of HEPA filters for this unit that currently costs $32 and a four pack of carbon filters that costs $12. The manufacturer says that the HEPA filters will need changed every 6-12 months and the carbon filters every 3-6 months. Keep in mind that this unit uses two HEPA and two carbon filters. The unit also has indicator lights for each filter to tell you when they need changed. I'll probably spend $88 a year on the filters but that is much lower than for many other HEPA filters I looked at!I run the unit on speed "3" for about 12 hours per day though you could run the unit continuously. It does a great job of circulating the air. Within the first day I noticed a marked improvement. I can't see very much dust in the air anymore, even in bright light (when you can see the floating dust particles in a room). Also, lots of the bits of feathers and fluff from the birds that used to float throughout the rest of the house are gone. The room did not have an obvious odor before but I really think the carbon filters have made the room smell "fresher."The only drawback I can think of is that is it somewhat noisy at speeds 3 and 4 which are the most effective speeds. I don't consider this a problem because I am fond of white noise in the background. Some people might find it too noisy at the higher speeds.Update November 2006: After five months of continuous use this filter stopped working in September 2006. I followed the instructions for returning the item for warranty service which required me to pay for return shipping and also pay to ship the item back. Within about a week Holmes had sent me a brand new filter that is actually a newer, larger, model worth more than the one that had failed. They gave me no hassle and replaced the filter with a better model. This new model is working fine so far. I am pretty pleased with Holmes prompt replacement.

Great Air Purifier / fan!

We have had this model for a year now and it works great! It does a fantastic job removing dust from the air. We live in New York City, so there is a lot of dust and grime in the air, and we both have allergies. With this air purifier running, we have no problems breathing and can sleep soundly. Now we have a newborn and feel confident that the air in the bedroom is clean and fresh. It really circulates the air well. I change the filters every 4-5 months (you can purchase them for only $9.99 on Amazon.com for 4 filters!).This is a great investment if you want ceaner air in your home.

Absolutely Excellent!!!

I just bought 2 of these and it works wonderful. I recently adopted a kitten and bought her home. Not realizing the effect it may or may not have on my younger daughter, she had an allergic reaction. Eyes started puffing up and nose very congested. I immediately went to K-Mart and purchased 2 (one for the living room and one for her room). After she took some allergy medication and turned these on, that was all she wrote. It worked perfectly!!!I would definitely recommend this to anyone!!

Mildew & Mold Magic

I have had extremely good luck with this product and specifically it transformed an old damp bathroom into a livable space again. The issue with the bathroom is a lack of ventilation, moisture, and old dry wall which resulted in black mold, mildew, and a funky smell in the last room in the house that needs help in that department. Long story short after seeing the gel at my local marine shop I figured why not try it and I've never looked back. 6 months later the mold is dead and I was able to clean it up, the mildew went away, and most pleasing of all there is no odor. That in fact is probably my favorite thing about this product it does not mask odors with another smell and you know it is working because you don't even notice it. My only complaint is that the jar once open has limited options on how much of the product is exposed to the air with the fixed vent holes. I'd love to see an adjustable top so you can regulate how quickly the product is used/exposed to air but that is a minor point and solved by using some tape over two of the five holes in my case. Highly recommended product and worth the money when matched with the appropriate sized space.

This Product WORKS WONDERS

My husband and I own a condo on a ski mountain in Vermont. The condo is closed up most of the year, which happens to be the hottest, wettest time of the year. In 2011 Vermont experienced a very wet Spring plus a deluge from Hurricane Irene in late August. When we arrived at the condo in November it had a stale musty odor. I immediately had problems breathing and with my sinuses being clogged every day. The condo basement was a mess with mold and mildew everywhere (walls, rugs, furniture, bedding). It was the worst we'd ever seen.After I thoroughly cleaned EVERYTHING - walls, woodwork, rugs, furniture, linens (etc) and got things as dry as I could I placed an 8 oz Kanberra gel in the room and a 2 oz jar in an adjoining bathroom. I put the Kanberra gel in def-con mode as suggested in the instructions, taking the lid off the jar for 4-5 days. I opened all the bureau drawers and closets. It didn't happen overnight, but within a week the condo basement had no smell at all. The musty smell in the condo was gone. My sinuses cleared up and my breathing improved. I put a 2 oz Kanberra gel in the bathroom on the main level and it worked eliminating a mildew smell that arose when the shower wall was wet.Best of all Kanberra gel has no odor of it's own. It's not one of those products that masks odors, it really is eliminating them. You would never know we had any issue with mold and mildew. I plan to keep Kanberra gel in the condo year-round. I would HIGHLY recommend this product.Also a shout-out to DBC Marine. I've ordered Kanberra gel from them two times and their service has been great with very speedy delivery.

I put 3 4oz in my 49 sailboat and left them for a week when I came back there was no diference in smell on my boat.I consider the product over priced.

Worth the money

I'd never owned anything other than those cheesy ionizers in the past, and my wife suggested getting a quality HEPA filter to use in our basement, which we suspected had some mold floating around. It's never been a very smelly basement, but never seemed quite like the rest of the house either. I installed this, and within an hour, running on high, the room smelled like NOTHING. Utterly astonishing - doesn't smell like the rug, like the sofa, like fabric softener, like mold, like oil. It smells of nothing. I'm going to get one for the bedroom. It is audible on high -- like a room fan on medium maybe, and actually creates a bit of a breeze which is nice. It is also made in the U.S.A, another astounding characteristic, since you can't seem to buy anything these days that isn't made in China. Most highly recommended. I don't know what Consumer Reports was thinking of -- none of the really high quality air filters were in their recent survey.

Absolutely Amazing Air Purifier

We bought the AustinAirHealthmate+ because the our apartment felt small and close- which with only two of us it shouldn't (about 700sqft). We live in an old building- and despite all our efforts to keep it clean the air still felt... old. Not a big deal at first- but eventually it got to us and we decided to buy an air purifier. I did LOTS of research, and came to the conclusion that this was what we needed (best value, cost, reliability, warranty, odor control and filtering...maintenence costs- all with a low power draw.)When you turn it on you are supposed to leave it on the high setting for an hour - we did that- and in 15 minutes the change in air quality was so drastic I am still amazed. I was washing dishes and suddenly our small apartment didn't seem so small. 30 minutes latter I felt I was breathing better and clearer than I had since I moved to the city- an hour latter I could have sworn I was off in the country or on a mountain top. I had no idea purified air could be this good.After one day my wife and I resolved to have one of these filters on for the rest of our lives. After two days we didn't even mind how much we paid for it. And if you break down the cost of purchase and filter replacement over the five years it should come to about $15 dollars a month- with regular maintenance these guys routinely last 15 years (supposedly)...I am still amazed with how much better my wife and I feel breathing this air- and we don't have asthma or allergies. I am impressed- and Austin has a new customer.

allergy relieved

I searched for so long for an air purifier. I wanted to find one that works, not just one that sits there and does nothing. And I read many information and reviews and decided to get this air purifier. I have used it for a month and so far it seems that it relieved my allergy pretty well. It eliminates odor well when you turn it to the highest fan speed. And I like that the filters are encasted so in the future when i need to change out the filter, the dust is not going all over from the filter to the surrounding, so this design is very thoughtful. So far i like it though it's pricey, I think it's worth the money for the sake of better health and living condition. My husband said he thinks there is less dust deposit on surfaces too after we have this purifier on.
