Cleans Amazing Well and Looks Very Sleek! A Bargain!

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2MC58KMJUXWEA Mostly due to my cat's dander, dust and occasional odors (like burning something in the kitchen or fireplace); I had a Holmes HAP716-U True HEPA 3 Speed Tower Allergen Remover. It was convenient and had a thin washable piece of foam, but expensive filter replacements. I used to actually vacuum out the filters to make them last. Then I obtained the Winix WAC9300 (Medium Room) Ultimate Pet True HEPA Air Cleaner with PlasmaWave Technology, which is an amazing is an amazing machine. I used it in my master bedroom and it has worked fine for almost two years.When the COWAY arrived, I immediately switched that into my master bedroom and placed the Winix in the office where the kitty litter box stays. I leave the Winix up to the nasty fine particle kitty litter particles. The COWAY is now my bedroom filter and it works just as well if not better.The Coway looks fantastic with a sleek black mirror effect and blue lights that are easily seen in the light or dark. They operate the power, the speed (four), the Ionizer indicator, the Timer indicator (1, 4 and 8 hours), the Filter reset Indicator and the Filter reset button.As seen in the video, there is a Pre-Filter that catches large dust, mold, human hair, pet hair, and more with an antibacterial material.The Odor Filter has a granular active carbon Odor Filter, which is great at trapping odors and harmful gases to create a natural clean smell.The HEPA filter is a high composite filter the essentially removes all fine dust, smoke, molds and other organic material with an antibacterial function. No more germs or mold!That bright blue circle on the front of the machine shows three colors - Clean: Blue, Polluted: Dark Purple and Highly Polluted: Red.These machines filters last a long time.Here is the cleaning schedule:Pre-Filter: Every 2-4 weeks by simple hand washing.Odor Filter: Every year (replacement)HEPA Filter: Every 3 years (replacement).This is much less expensive than the Winix and just as effective (and has a nicer appearance). Plus the sleek look is perfect for the bedroom or any room for nice style. Plus the button exudes a noise chimes when you change modes. That why I included the video with no speaking.

I received the Coway AP-1012GH Smart Air Purifier with HEPA Filter and followed the set up instructions.First remove the front cover, remove the plastic wrap from the odor filter and the Hepa filter and placed them back in the unit, put the pre-filter on top and replaced the front cover.I then turned the unit on by pressing the Power button. The device has a large blue indicator light in the shape of a circle. The color changes from Blue (clean), Dark Purple (polluted), and Red (highly polluted) as a sign of air quality. I has 4 settings A, 1, 2, and 3. A is automatic, it monitors the air quality and adjusts the fan speed as needed. 1, 2, and 3 settings are basically hi, med, and low fan speeds that run constantly at whatever speed number is selected. It also has a timer that you can set so the device will run for 1hr, 4 hrs, or 8 hrs and then shut itself off. Very simple to set up and operate.I was using the device on Auto mode and it was working fine, when suddenly all the lights on the panel lit up and the unit started beeping. Pressing the power button had no effect. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes and plugged it back in. The unit just made a constant beeping noise and no fan went on and none of the buttons on the front had any effect when pressed. I called customer service at Coway and explained the problem to see if there was some error code that they could resolve over the phone. It was not. The customer service agent quickly issued me a new unit to be sent out and a pre-paid UPS slip so that I could return the broken unit to them so they could see what made the original device malfunction. The customer service department was excellent in showing that they do care about if the products work right and the people who purchase devices from Coway are pleased.The new unit arrived and I have been testing it for several days now. All the functions are working properly and the air quality is noticeably better. The Coway AP-1012GH Smart Air Purifier with HEPA Filter is a very good device both in function and design.It is my belief that the original unit was damaged in shipping or had a malfunction not common with the unit. I can say with much confidence that the problem I encountered is not the norm. The device itself is 4 stars, it gets an extra star for the fact that IF you do have a problem, you can be assured that the people at Coway and their Customer Service will correct any issues and make sure you are satisfied. This is not the case with all companies, as I am sure many reading this have had less than satisfactory results when dealing with other companies 'customer service' departments.I would like to note that the service representative named Calvin deserves special mention for his attention to the problem I encountered. He was helpful on the phone and sent several emails to me keeping me informed of what was being done to resolve the problem. People complain when they receive poor service, but it is just as important to acknowledge excellent service.I can recommend both the AP-1012GH Smart Air Purifier with HEPA Filter, and the Coway company itself.

So as a satisfied owner of a Oreck AirInstinct 200 I was looking for a second air purifier as I was very satisfied with the Oreck's performance in my bedroom (20'x15'). My wife and I have sever allergies and were looking to buy a second purifier to enhance the filtering in our bedroom (where we spend most our time). The Oreck 200 runs about $499 retail and $349 on amazon. I actually got mine on Ebay new for $225 so it was a pretty good deal.I starting researching other air purifiers to keep my options open but most likely was going to settle on another Oreck. BUT, I came across a company called COWAY..It seems they are centrally located outside of the USA but had very similar looking auto air purifiers. After reading all there very similar literature to Oreck I decided to try this Coway AP-1012GH as it looked very similar to the Oreck. For $189 it was worth it to me. They obviously make their products in the same manufacturing facilities as Oreck.It arrived today and shortly after unpacking the box I could see that not only does this Coway model have similar looks and operation but it used the same filters and filtering process as the Oreck! Same red, purple, blue auto lights to determine auto mode filtering. I plugged it in immediately and already familiar with the Oreck I had it up in running in a few minutes. It is working great so far. The only differences I could make out was that this Coway model aesthetically is different, it has a ION mode which the Oreck doesn't and it's fan seems to move way more air then the Oreck when on high.So here is the breakdown:Pros:-Great Price compared to similar models with automatic filtering-Moves a tremendous amount of air when on high mode-Negative ION mode not found on the Oreck Air Instinct 200-Small size (Oreck 200 sits 2-3" higher)-noticeable difference in room air quality after just a few uses-3 year heap filter and 1 year odor filter-easy cleaning and maintenanceCons:-None so far. I will see if it holds up as the Oreck does after 1 year of useIf you are looking for a sub $200 air purifier and don't want to waste your time researching or buying the cheaper non working models found at your local walmart/targets this is the one for you. Coway is obviously making a stance here in the US as I am now seeing this model at Costco online now. If your not looking to spend $1000 + on an IQ Air or Blue Air then consider this model. Totally satisfied customer! And of course next day prime shipping from Amazon is a plus.
