Works well

Bought the unit for my bedroom to run at night to help with a sinus infection. I noticed a difference right away in the quality of sleep and my breathing. I would buy it again for sure, nice product. The blue lights are a little annoying if you like a dark room to sleep in but easy fix with a cloth covering it.

Not Perfect, But Good Enough

The bottom line is if you really want fresh-smelling air, go with an ionizer-centered filter...but you could do a lot worse than the Hoover here.This filter does clean the air. When I ran it, within several minutes I noticed odors diminishing and the air "feeling" clearer. However, the air coming out of it does smell a bit like machine rather than the fresh, outdoors smell you can get by an ionic filter. (The smell is strong enough the first few hours that I recommend burning it in overnight in your garage.) The Hoover does have an ionizer, but I really don't notice any difference when it's turned on.I also could do without the ridiculously bright LED lights on top of the device. This is a pet peeve of mine: every time you buy any electronic device, you're also buying a night light--whether you want one or not. I don't want one. Night is dark for a reason. This device really needs a switch to either turn off the LEDs or drop them to about 10% brightness at night.As for noise, I would say the noise levels are reasonable. Understand that you're not going to find an air purifier with filtration that is quiet. Fans turning and air being forced through filters make noise. This filter makes the noise you would expect--no more, no less. Running it on High will be noisy...but also unnecessary unless you're trying to clear the air from a grease fire or chain smokers.

I have been using this device for four months now. It has helped to keep my mold problem under control (after an initial treatment with chlorine dioxide to subdue the mold). The respiratory problems I had when I moved into this apartment are now history. I usually leave it running on the low setting 24/7. It is very quiet on this setting - usually I barely notice it, even though I sit just a few feet from it, and the breeze it creates is gentle.The only reasons it gets less than 5 stars have to do with filter replacement. I just changed the HEPA filter for the first time. (That means I'll have to replace the filter three times a year if I continue using it 24/7.) Replacement filters (available from DAM Distributors via Amazon) cost just under $25. Unfortunately, the "Filter Change" light now seems to be ON permanently. I poked a paper clip into the "Filter Reset" button, as instructed by the owner's manual, and I kept pressing for about 30 seconds, but nothing happened - there was no beep and the red light did not go off. So now I'll just have to guess at when to change the filter.
