Instant Allergy Relief

I've bought 2 of these (one really big one and one bedroom-sized one) and I don't know which one this review is for. However, that doesn't change the fact that they are amazing! I have really bad allergies and I needed something to help with air quality besides just the AC filter. Filtrete is one of those brands that costs a lot but is amazing and you've fallen in love with the quality so you refuse to buy anything else. I've tried other filters (to save money) but they are crap compared to Filtrete, so I will continue to purchase these products. Okay, back to the filter -- it is very quiet and works very well. The filters last about 3 months, a bit longer if you vacuum them with the handheld or just want to push them to their limit. The filter unit itself is a bit bulky, but it's not terribly large. However, IT IS MUCH LARGER THAN I IMAGINED IT WOULD BE. It sucks in the air from the side but then fans it upwards, so you can put it in a corner or out-of-sight if you need to. I've noticed that the air quality from these is better than a HEPA. Your regular "dirty" air goes in and your get regular clean air out of it. I have a large one in my living room and a small one in my bedroom and they seem to be working fine and my allergies have decreased more than I could have hoped for. I might get another for the office, for dust control if necessary. It might take a day or two for you to notice a difference, but the allergy relief was almost immediate.

Ultra-quiet when compared to a lawn mower

I returned this item immediately.The word "quiet" has no business being anywhere on the box, let alone ultra-quiet.I put it in an office with 3 personal computers running and it was easily heard over all of them when on it's slowest setting.It has the typical hum and air rush sounds of a typical fan.As air purifiers go, it's one of the loudest I've ever heard.I had purchased it for a bedroom but there's absolutely no way I could sleep with that noise.Even in an office, it has a hum which I'm sure would be irritating over time.It was replacing a Winix which broke.Most if not all Winix units have a sleep mode and they truly cannot be heard when in sleep mode, yet they still move and filter air.I was going to save some money but after this I put in an order for another Winix.3m has gone straight down hill over the past few years. I've tried several different face masks (respirators) from them and all have a terrible chemical smell which should never happen. They are supposed to remove poisons ... not introduce them.

This is my third Filtrete filter and my first ultra-quiet one. (I did not find the first two too noisy for the bedroom, but another family member did. He cannot hear the ultra-quiet one above the ac.) The best thing about these filters is that my furniture accumulates less dust in one week than it did in one day prior to the filter use. Family members are allergic to dust mites, and lots of dust will make almost anyone sneeze. (I really hate housework too.) Eventually I'll purchase a larger one for the living/dining room area. Re: the expense of replacement filters- we purchase the largest Filtrete filters we can find in Wal-Mart and cut them to fit. We have been doing this for at least three years and the original two are working as well as when they were new.
