The Alen Paralda Air Purifier has an intelligent, award-winning design that complements even the most discerning décor-all while offering greater efficiency and performance than other tower units on the market. The Paralda's unique Dual Airflow Design pulls air in through the back of the unit and then circulates purified air through two sides instead of one, delivering maximum amounts of pure air to your living spaces. The Paralda utilizes Alen's advanced HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) style filtration technology to purify and freshen the air in your home while protecting the filter against bacteria and microbes. Polluted air moves through Alen's unique, electrostatically charged HEPA style material that attracts and captures dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores and other airborne pollutants. Alen's antimicrobial Siver-Ion threads are woven into the HEPA style material, protecting the filter from harmful bacteria and microbe growth. The Paralda's ozone-safe Ionizer complements the HEPA style filter by charging particles in the air, causing them to stick together and become more easily captured. The Paralda is a quiet operation, circulating all the air in a 500 square foot space more than twice per hour on the highest speed. It comes standard with the HEPA-Silver Filter, designed for easy replacement with a self-closing cover. As with every Alen Air Purifier, the Alen Paralda includes a Lifetime Limited Warranty.

Made a huge difference in our home air quality

At the recommendation of my sister, who has bought the Paralda first - we purchased the air purifier for our home. My mother suffers from asthma and terrible allergies and lives with us - so anything we can do to make her more comfortable is worth it.The Paralda is long and slender yet compact - it easily fit in our living room and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. It is very quiet and has varying speeds. It also had a UV lamp that zaps bacteria - and anything the HEPA air filter doesn't get. I noticed the air seemed fresher and there was less dust on the furniture. It felt like the pristine air you usually find in the dentist office - fresh, cleaner, very comfortable. The Paralda is not noisy at all compared to our Ionic Breeze air purifier we used to keep in my mother's bedroom. The control pad was very easy to figure out - even my mother could manage it on her own.We have had the Paralda for several weeks now - and my mother seems to have more energy from sleeping better as a result of our cleaner air - which makes the price, to me, completely worth it. I must also mention - we run the Paralda all the time - and we have seem no marked increase in our electric bill ... it is a Energy Star rated appliance - and every little bit of savings helps us nowadays. I'd highly recommend this unit.

Great air purifier but user controls lack, re-review after 2 years

I have owned two of Paralda units for about a month now. Generally they do what they are supposed to do and they are great at cleaning the air. Here are some things I noted:o The units are really quiet at low speeds (1 and 2). One of the units is somewhat louder, emitting some low volume whine.o The capability to program the settings for time and speed is great but be warned that there is no settings backup capability built in. One will lose the settings when the power is disconnected or lost or when the filter has been unlocked.o The manual documents that you can switch between Manual and Programmed mode by touching the PGM key. I found this not to be the case: one can switch from Programmed mode into Manual by turning the machine OFF and ON again but there is no way to go back to Programmed mode, except for going through the entire programming cycle, again.o Alen's customer support is mostly non existent. Their only response to my complaints about the above got me a suggestion to return the units for a refund.Updated after over 2 years of use:I am quite happy with my Paraldas. The achieved air quality is very good. Looking at the filters catching so many pollutants confirms my opinion. I have them programmed to run full speed after I leave for office and at 3/4 speed at nighttime (units are outside of the bedroom!), switching to level 2 early in the morning. I could definitely use one more programming time slot to switch to low speed automatically at the time I return home - I have to do it by hand now.I can confirm that at the lowest speed the unit is very quiet indeed. I can also tolerate easily level two speed, being noise-sensitive myself.After two years of use, one of the units got quite noisy emitting rubbing and wobbling sounds. I complained to Alen and asked about their lifetime warranty and they stood behind their product and replaced the effective unit with a new one.Generally I am very happy even though the replacement filters will cost you arm and leg :)I am bumping my rating one star for the excellent way of Alen handling the warranty claim.Greg

I agree with the other reviews that this air purifier looks and functions great. I feel like using it has minimized my allergies. However, when the filter is on, there is also a small light on. I cannot figure out how to turn it off after six months and I have concluded that you cannot turn it off (please comment if I'm wrong and include instructions for turning it off!!). I bought this for my bedroom and I like to have it on overnight. However, the light makes it more difficult. I still gave it 4 stars, b/c I otherwise like it.
