My wife has terrible allergies and this seems to be helping, especially as I keep it in my bedroom and it makes sleeping so much better.

I purchased this exact unit. Someone said it blows the dust around. Strange. Not far from my Oreck is a glass coffee table. Nothing collects dust like a glass coffee table. There hasn't been one bit of dust on that table in the 1 1/2 weeks I have been running my Oreck. AND, I only run it during the daytime. Only heard it "zab" about 6 times and mostly when a lose dog hair floats into it. The "zap" tells me it is working. We have a smoker in our house and you could really smell the smoke when you left the house then came back in. Since running the Oreck the smell is almost completely gone. I do run it on medium speed and sometimes on low. My "smoker" sits about 4 1/2 to 5 ft. from the Oreck and the smoke is drawn towards the machine and gone, gone, gone. Don't understand someone talking about dust blowing around. Maybe that person's machine is faulty.My unit is not noisy at all except when on high but so is any household fan on high. I find it does a great job on medium. Love this Oreck and have just purchased another one with the Helios filter for our rec room.You can find an environmentally acceptable permanent filter on e-bay for the AIR12B which is washable. Helps cut down the costs and lasts for years. The Oreck ProShield plus I just ordered has the Permanent Helios filter which cannot be removed and NEVER needs cleaning.These Oreck machines are great and I highly recommend them.
