The all-new and improved PreMax pre-filter is the beginning of the new standard for high-performance air purification brought to you by IQAir. The pre-filter eliminates coarse and fine particles like dust, pollen, mold spores and more. It's 99% efficient to 5 microns, which extends the life of the HyperHEPA filter. Although the new PreMax pre-filter (designed for all IQAir New Edition and previous-generation HealthPro systems) is improved over the previous generation, it doesn't look any different. That's because it was re-engineered on the inside not the outside. What IQAir designers and engineers did was perfect the pleating and reduce the weight of the separators. All with the goal of offering more clean air and longer filter life. It's the kind of change you'll notice-by not noticing it. So although the new PreMax pre-filter looks the same, it's lighter than the original and provides more active surface area and more even filter loading. And it's longer lasting than the previous generation, too. So you get up to 25% more clean air and spend up to 20% less on filter replacement costs. The PreMax pre-filter and the HyperHEPA filter are great examples of how IQAir filters work together to give you the best filtration possible.

It's a real filter, not science fiction like Ionic devices

There is no magical, cheap, silent, super-energy efficient way to REALLY clean air. PERIOD. There are only measured compromises.The IQAir is the absolute best air cleaner available to the public. It makes a bit of noise, but very, very little for the massive volume of air. It uses a bit of electricity, but it takes power to pump air through such absolutely, ridiculously, fabulously purifying multi-stage filters. THINK about it.The filters seem pricey. THEY AREN'T. The filters last a stupefyingly long time. They are huge and thick--everything they need to be, to stop greater than 99% of .003 micron particulates, plus the huge .3 micron particules that make the filters HEPA certified. Just try to picture the difference--a thousand times smaller. That's like the difference in size between a b-b and a 15 foot diameter ball (if they exist). If you spend a bit more, you get gas filtering too. Spend a little more and get yourself a cleanroom certified IQAir, if you need it.An IQAir Healthpro Plus saved my wife and I from suffering while several brush fires over the past few years have lapped at our neighborhood. Before having the IQAir, we both suffered gravely whenever brush fires were anywhere within 50 miles.After two years of us raving about our IQAir, our next door neighbors (asthma sufferers) sought refuge in our home during the last fire which was a couple miles upwind and within sight of our house. One evening of easy breathing was enough to convince the cheapskates to pony up for an IQAir (and donate to charity their various Honeywell, Hunter and other big-box store joke filters scattered around their house).

I just purchased this filter for my IQAIR HealthPro Plus and it is the real deal, not a generic or some knockoff. I received my IQair filter promptly and actually it was a day ahead of schedule. The filter was in a sealed factory IQair bag inside of two double sealed boxes. It worked and fit perfectly. IQair ships removal instructions inside box with easy to understand pictures. Side note- Remember to reset your IQair filter timer on HealthPro machine, so you know when to replace it again! I hope this quells any fears regarding purchasing one.

My pair of IQ Air HealthPro air purifiers have dramatically reduced my allergy symptoms. My home lacks central air or any other type of air conditioner (and the air filtration that goes with it).In my case, this Pre-Max filter lasts about 6 months before the device determines -- via computer monitoring -- that it's time for a new one. This is the second time I've replaced the Pre-Max filter (in both units). When I place the old filter next to the new filter, the old filter is so darkened that it is almost black and the new filter is pure white. That right there shows me how much stuff the filter is removing from the air I breathe at home.
