These Bamboo Charcoal air fresheners are much more effective than baking soda at absorbing and controlling refrigerator odors. Each packet holds 180 grams of activated carbon derived from environmentally friendly bamboo. Activated Carbon is a natural air purifier, and has a surface area as high as 600 sq meters per gram, and is excellent at absorbing and trapping bacteria and odors which can cause flavor contamination between foods in your refrigerator.The bamboo charcoal not only absorbs odors, but extends the life of your fresh produce as well. It does this by acting as a natural humidity regulator and by absorbing the ethylene gas that fruits and vegetables naturally emit as they ripen. I ordered 3 of these, and liked them so much I ordered the 7-pack. I put the first ones in the freezer and fridge, and they work better and faster than baking soda. And, they're reusable, since you can just put them in the sun for a while and they're rejuvenated. I've now put some in my husband's closet, and they work well in there, too.

I was to the point where I wanted to buy a new fridge, I couldn't get rid of the smell. I don't know what caused it, but I tried cleaning it with bleach, Odo-Ban, comet, ammonia, Mr.Clean with Febreeze, hydrogen peroxide mixed with water.... I tried using baking soda and other charcoal things....Nothing worked! I bought these as a last ditch effort and am glad I did! The smell is gone from my fridge, and it didn't take long at all!

Great for getting the "made in China" or perfume smell out of things. I'm allergic to most fragrances and chemicals (MCS). I doubt these would work well as a replacement for traditional air fresheners, but for my purposes, they are awesome.
