annoying furnace with hard-to-find filters

These fit. I presume they are doing a good job of what furnace filters do, but it is nice to be able to order this difficult-to-find size so easily through amazon. The real question here is WHY, WHY, WHY do furnace manufacturers build furnaces with such odd-sized filters??? They must have been talking to the folks who have created different types of dryer plugs. I really hate these people. They should be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes. Thank you, amazon for making my life a little easier.

I have a Carrier unit with a strange size filter 17 x 22 x 1. First I bought the Accumulair Gold filters but they made my AC work too hard. It was noisy like the fan was straining to pull air through them. The Gold filters were doing their job catching everything but I think they were a bit too much for my system so I switched to the Emerald. The Emerald work great and my AC doesn't work too hard to pull air through them. As a bonus they are cheaper than the Gold.
