Fresh air

I was skeptical because I read reviews that were negative. But, I suffer from allergies and drive on a dirt road and the dustthat seeps into the car, really causes me problems. I also live in the country around trees, bushes, etc.After I started using the Automate, I noticed a big difference with the air.I did not smell the dust anymore and I was not having sneezing fits in the car, either. I do get the occasional sneeze, but not fitslike I used to have. I also noticed an improvement with my nose itching and eyes watering. That seldom happens anymore when I am driving.I would definiately recommend this to a friend.

The small Auto-mate air ionizer successfully cleans the air in my cars and trucks and keeps my allergies at bay. It works for both allergens and chemical sensitivities and keeps me breathing easily. It is also inexpensive.

I like this product so much that I am writing my first Amazon review.I started using Wein air purifiers many years ago. Their small portable one called the Mini-Mate was great but I found myself wanting more air purification power and I was accidently dropping it from time to time and would break 1-3 of them a year, which adds up at a cost of about $100 / unit. Then I got the idea to purchase the Universal Lithium Ion Battery from Powerstream com and with a simple adaptor from Radio Shack and car cigarette lighter extension from Amazon, I was in business. I especially enjoy this setup because instead of just using 12 volts, I have found that 14 volts gives me even more clean air power and if I happen to go into an extremely polluted environment, I set it to 16 volts for extreme clean air power. Of course, with this set up, I breathe purified air directly out of the unit.So, its great, in the car I plug it into the cigarette lighter receptacle and then I simply plug it into my portable powerstream battery for when I go into stores.For those who don't like the squealing sound, I think that is when dust gets in the unit and all you need to do is blow on the side of it strongly to dislodge the dust and the squeal will go away. The unit does make a slight humming sound that has never bothered me and it is normal for the LED light to cycle quickly off and on. It cycles faster when the voltage is increased.Also, I have noticed over the years that when the pollution is especially high it makes a louder noise as it is working harder to dissolve the pollution. Hence, why it makes more noise in a new, read that, highly polluted car. From my experience some people do not like the increased noise but many are ok with it.A friend of my wife could not handle the new car smell from her Lexus and the leather seats so much that she almost could not drive it. After putting this Auto-Mate in her car, she drives it all of the time with no problem. It is a great little inexpensive unit. I have been using an Auto-Mate for over 7 years and it is still working great. My wife and I also use and appreciate the Sani-Mates in our house and find that after about 4 years of constant running, they need to be replaced. About $38 for 4 years worth of clean air? That is a great deal! I am a very happy customer.
